From 1 May 2026, revised newbuilding speed trial rules bring minor procedural changes, correction methods giving slightly higher speeds and an ITTC alternative method.
The revision contains only minor changes to the procedure of the speed tests.
Revised correction methods typically give slightly higher ship speed results.
Incentives are provided for more an advanced measurement of environmental conditions, particularly wind and waves.
ITTC recommendations can be applied as an alternative method.
